  1. Hello I am a 19 year old electrical technologies major. I am 3/4s of the way through the program so I figured I’d better finish. Ever since I started the program I have been learning about welding and pipeline and had discovered that pipelinin us my dream career. Because of channels like yours I have gotten to take a glimpse into what it’s like in the industry, THANKYOU. I am currently welding every day even on the weekends working on what I know is to be my future. upon me finishing up with school I hope to find either a helper position or even a labor position, anything to get me into the field. This giveaway would help me not only with the cool swag and gear, but as a boost in confidence and a reminder that my dream is possible.

  2. I first got hooked on welding when I was a junior in high school and it just kind of stuck with me up until i graduated and decided I wanted to weld for a living. I went to welding school for 2 months but eventually dropped out due to financial reasons. Thank God for good friends or I wouldn’t have got my first pipeline job right after I left welding school. I’ve been busting my @$$ every day to try and better myself and further my knowledge of welding. You’ve been a MAJOR idol of mine ever since I first started following you man! Keep on keepin’ on!🤙🏻🤙🏻

  3. At first I never thought welding was gonna be my career. My whole life I wanted to be a fish and game warden because I loved the outdoors but in my senior year of high school I took a welding class and I really liked it. We had a rep from Tulsa welding school come in and I signed right up. Going through that school was a life changing experience and I’m glad I went. I didn’t get my first pipeline job right away I had to work hard for it and when I did it was a struggle to get there. I drove from California to Texas and on that trip I blew all 4 of my trailer tires my truck broke down 2 times but it was all worth it in the end to know that I achieved the first big step of my big goal to be a welder. And I’ve now been on the pipeline for 3 years now and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I get to travel and be outdoors all the time and being able to see the country is one if it’s greatest treasures.

  4. Hey Wally, my name is Trey Smith, out of boteturt county, Virginia just north of Roanoke, I am a fan of yours and have been watching your social media for a couple years now, I am no super fan by any means but I am a fan like how you present yourself and help others out around you, if you would know me, you wouldn’t think that I would be commenting on the give away, but it’s not about that ! I could care less about any prizes Just thought I leave a comment , try and make it short and simple , I’m 21 years old I have been welding since the 10th grade, I have worked a ton of jobs as a fabricator, but the dream was to always be a rig welder ! I recently went to chase that dream and had it fall apart all in front of me, in March of 2019 I got the courage and messages KWI to try and get in ! As everything was going together in June my start day was set! And I was ready to go off, and then the funds I needed to go to school did not work out, so I had to settle for a technical school in the area , which isn’t a bad thing but not what I was wanting me and you both been to kwi and seen how they run things and that’s what I was after but I didn’t give up im making ends meet working a full time job and welding pipe at the class at night to hopefully fulfill my dreams one day! So just wanted to let you know keep doing what your doing ! I’ll definitely be keeping up with more info, anyone that can hear out and talk to a stranger is a good man in my eyes , open ears are also signs of a big heart! I also do not want anything from the giveaway but if maybe I could get a follow back on insta @trey_smith76 . That’s mean more than anything ! Thanks God bless

  5. Welding caught my eye during Agriculture class early my freshman year of high school. I’m blessed that my high school offered that AG class as well as having a trade school with a welding program. I got hooked on it and saw the money involved and I decided to chase it. I got state certifications and actually went to college and got every certification they offered. Initially wanted to find a shop job but a lot of people I knew went to pipelining and it followed. Started off laboring and working my ass off and then landing a helping job, and then bought my own rig and went to burning rods. Definitely hasn’t been easy out there but welding is something I love doing & will do it as long as my body allows. (And some days it makes me feel like an old man 😂) I’m not the best out there but with some brushing up on my other welding processes and learning some more hopefully I’ll make a great combo welder one of these days like yourself. Keep up the good work Wally 👍🏻

  6. When I joined the Army, I worked as a mechanic, I had an interest in welding, but was too introverted to ask to learn in our down time. In 2011, I left my dreams of retiring from the Army to support my mom 100%, as she’s been disabled from the age of 17. When I returned home, a few old friends had taken up the skill and told me a bit about it. Being someone who loves working with their hands and learning different skill, I started studying while I waited for my DD214 that had gotten lost in the midst of moving so much. Over the next 6 years, I watched video after video and practiced welding after work with their millermatic 130. Finally when I was able to purchase a small Stick/Tig machine for $300, I did. I built a custom table for my shop that was used to lay 130×42 glass sheets on as well as an A Frame that would hold 8,000 to 10,000 lbs of glass sheets. The fabrication and welding drove me more after those two projects. Finally I obtained my DD214 and enrolled in class at the tech college my friends had went to. Since then I’ve worked hard to stay on the President’s and Dean’s list, while honing my self taught skills. I’ve followed Wally’s Welding World for tips and tricks for a few years now. As well as almost any other welder that tries to pave the way for the up and coming generation. If I win the giveaway, I want to give it to a random student who doesn’t have the means to purchase all of it. I’m not in it for material items, I’m into welding to learn and help others. The whole reason to start welding was to find something I loved as much as I did the military, and welding is right there with it. Hopefully one day I’ll inspire and lead others the same way you do.

  7. I got into welding by stepping into a small welding/ custom suspension shop… work, school, Teaching & repeat…. the rest is history. Now the welding community is my inspiration and I love applauding the ones who inspire me, like you do.

  8. The reason why I got into welding is because this is what my father wanted me to do sadly my father passed away. So I wanted to do what he wanted me to do and that is welding. Since i got into the industry it’s been amazing i learn new things every day theres never a day that I dont learn nothing. I watch your videos and it makes me want to do this more. I’m just really inspired in this field and I hope it’s the last thing I do . I cant wait to get into that hole and weld my life away .I’m from Houston texas I go to Barbara Jordan career center and Sam Houston High School.

  9. So I did 10 years in the Army (comes in to play in a minute) and got medically discharged. I’ve been searching for years for something that I enjoyed to give a shot. I was always interested in welding but never really did any research on it, because I truly thought it was a hobby thing, didn’t realize how much of a need for it there is. So I go to a VA appointment one day and start looking around…the railing, parts of the garage, the elevator, all of it has welding so I decide to check out some YouTube and see what pops up. One of your videos was one of the first I watched. The following day I went up to my local college and talked to the instructor about welding….
Well, I graduate welding school this summer and I have people like you to thank for helping me find something I love and have a passion for.

  10. Hey Welding Professor,
My name is Jacob Phillips, I’m 20 years old, married and in welding school at the moment. I’m trying to make a better life for my wife and I by getting started early and working hard until I can get a rig set up.
I got into welding about three years ago while working for a small mom and pop metal fab shop. I mostly migged there but the few times I stick welded I loved it. I had to leave the shop in early 2018 due to personal reasons but continued my education by going to my community college for more experience.
Now after eight months of mig welding there I decided to further my education even more and looked to move out of state to get more knowledge. So in mid 2019 I packed up entire room and my wife’s entire room, I had to move her in with my parents, and moved from Western NC to Nashville.
I know have three months left of welding school and then it’s time to get a little more experience under my belt before anything. I have learned a lot from you and other YouTubers and I’m hoping to someday help spread the knowledge on to the next generation.
Keep up the good work, love your vids.
    -Jacob P.

  11. 12. My names Dusty Madewell I live in Tennessee and I am slowing learning the welding trade. I didn’t have much to start with other than a passion to learn. I am inspired my my grandpa who spent 40 years in the industry. The only regret is I didn’t get to learn much from him before he had his stroke. However, what he did give me was his welder and some knowledge which I cherish. As of now I operate a construction business that my dad has built from the ground up and all glory to God for what I have been handed. I dabble more in fabrication and repair side of welding but I can’t say I’ve been the main welder for the needs of the business. With the responsibility of day to day operation an making sure God and family come first welding sadly takes a back seat. I know you could probably think right now does this guy even weld or doubt that I even have a passion for welding. But I am very open about my story cause learning the welding trade is of utmost importance to me. I wanna share this not as a oh me type of story but to encourage someone that’s in the same boat as I am. Maybe not the same situation but someone has the desire and is pursuing it and life and responsibility keep getting in the way. Just like guys in the gym hyping up the new guy to go for a PR I know myself and others need a good trap slap to keep going. I know my story may lack that wow factory but just know it’s not the end of it. I really do appreciate you and all of the other who take the time to put out quality welding content. I do learn a lot from them. Keep up the great work!

  13. Whenever I was a kid, 12-13, my grandfather who was a welder in the refinery here in town wanted to teach me a skill. I loved watching him weld and fabricate things for local farmers. He started me out welding stick and I loved it.
Years later I was welding in shops and got tired of mig all day. I decided to start a night class to learn tig pipe. I started working on more critical industries, pressure vessels and process piping. I started teaching night classes for adults after having been in the industry around 14 years. Then I got the opportunity to teach full time, and after having seen some of the struggles the young folks were having, I couldn’t say no. Now I’ve been teaching for going on two years and have been trying to meet as many industry partners as possible to help out the future of the industry.

  14. Hey wally, I’ve always been into creating things but never knew what profession I should persue until my friend explained how welding is a great opportunity to open doors to learn core skills for metal working and a good legal source of income. I’m currently in school at tulsa welding school down here in houston which is treating me pretty well. I plan to continue honing my skills in welding and pursuing other hands on skills out in the field and watching your videos gave me a wider view of what can truly be done so even if I dont win the giveaway I’m grateful for your knowledge and teachings!

  15. My name is James and I got in to welding simply because nobody in my family is a welder. So I started the 1st generation! I first picked up a stinger when I was around 9 years old. My dad was messing around in the garage and asked if I wanted to try. Of course I took him up on his offer. That kind of sparked my interest a bit. There was always something cool to me about welding. Later on in life, around 15-16 years old, I started doing little odd ball jobs for my grandfather, welding stuff up. His shop is where I did most of my practicing. When I turned 18, I had enough confidence to test out at an oil company so that’s exactly what I did and I never looked back. I’m 25 now and still sincerely enjoy what I do. I don’t exactly remember when, but I stumbled upon one of your videos. You were teaching the viewers how to weld pipe with 6010. Something about the way you explained the process, drew me in. I was hanging on to every word. Very, very shortly after that video, I followed your Instagram and I’m sure glad I did. You’re a very talented dude with a gift from God. The gift of teaching and speaking. Don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing because you have people like me looking up to you. Stay rad my bro and God bless you and your family. ✌️

  18. Welding has always been apart of my life and childhood my father would take me with him to big almond hulling plants and he would do all of the installing and I would do all of the welding, later as his eye site got worse it was all up to me. About 6 years ago I had moved on from the family business and thru all of the years of welding I was able to land a job as a service mechanic on tree shakers and my welding was noticed thru all of the farming community there for giving me job security. Welding has expanded my trade and currently has me looking into the pipe field

  19. Hey man.
Love watching your videos on YouTube and they help me learn new things everyday. I started off welding with my grandpa when I was 10 took a interest in it then when high school cane around I starting welding more and more. Made it to provincial skills competition for my high school ( first one to ever do so) and things took off from there. I got a offer from Conestoga collage to there welding and fabrication program. After working in a structural steel shop and specialist stainless shop I knew welding was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After starting at school I was quickly recognized as a decent welder which lead to me being a part of the provincial skills competition again at the collage level. After spending 250 hours in the shop in just 7 weeks plus attending class full time I was privileged enough to place second in the province behind my teammate by 1/2 a point. After working all summer as a metal fabricator in a medium size custom fab shop I was offered a work study program thought my collage. This gave me the opportunity to share my love for the trade with first year students and level 1 apprentice’s teaching them all I know. Working 16 hours a week teaching 30 hours a week being a student and I wouldn’t want it any other way. My plan for the future is to open my own fabrication shop and give Co-op students the opportunity to come in and learn and grow there knowledge in my shop. I want to give back all I can to such as amazing trade because without welding I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

  21. Hello Wally and everyone else reading this comment. I’m super excited about this giveaway and also excited to hear all of your stories! My name is Jason or as others in school like to call me Mr.Certified 😂. I’m 18 years of age and I started welding when i was only 12 years old. I was looking to make some extra bucks because my parents never gave me money. My dad used to be qawelder so he had a 220 hobart mig welding machine that I used to learn some flux core welding. Everything i learned was on YouTube watching welding tips and tricks, weldtube, TheWeldProfessor, and the fabrication series. I picked it up quick and soon enough I started making dump trailers and gardening trailers to make extra bucks during high school. Whenever I could I also did some exhaust welding. During my high school years I was in AG mechanics class. I was the teachers assistant in teaching students how to weld. I only got to compete once because I sneaked out of the house at 5:00 in the morning to run the school and meet up with my team. I won that competition in the welding course but I was in big trouble when I came home because my family is SDA and we’re supposed to go to church on Saturday. I was never allowed to compete again even though my teacher wanted to have a talk with my parents but i knew how that would turn out. NOT GOOD. I always knew I wanted to weld for a living. It’s always been my passion and although others around me seemed to be uninterested after a while, I always learned something new every day and that keeps me motivated tthis day. Now i graduated high school and a guy named Collin was looking for a welder to start up his fabrication shop again and asked the welding teacher in school if he had someone in mind and he recomended me. Soon enough I started working with him building gates and working on offroad fabrication welding up roll cages and sometimes doing repairs on big dump trucks. Meanwhile I was going to welding school to get my certifications. This is where i am now, I helped Collin start up his shop and now it’s just him pulling in work and I’m 2 months away from graduating and certing out although I know I have a very long journey ahead because I want to learn everything there is to welding! Wally you’re someone I’ve always admired ever since I startedwatching your welding videos on YouTube. I hope my story can inspire some young people looking into welding. Although I’m the youngest guy in my welding school I’m also the best one and I’m not being cocky that’sjust what the instructors tell me. If anyone young like me is reading, never give up on welding. It’s a learning process that takes years to master but in the endthe results are amazing. I have alot more to share but I dont want to get y’all bored lol. Thanks toeveryone who took their time on reading this post!

  22. Hey Wally, I’m a Red Seal Journeyman structural welder in BC, Canada. Just moved to Alberta to follow my cousins in the pipeline dream! Learning and grinding everyday to buy a rig ASAP!

  23. I started when I was about 6 years old my grampa had an old welder and I was intrigued by it and kept asking him about it until one day he showed me how to run 6010 and I was hooked every weekend I would go over to his house and work on running beads and getting better by the time I turned 10 I was going out to drilling job sites with my dad and work on hard facing the augers and clean out buckets had so much fun with it that in High school I took a welding class and when into welding school to learn everything that I could and how to weld in just about every way possible got out of college and been in structural welding and never have looked back just forward and how to get better at what I love to do welding is a life Style

  24. Hey love your YouTube it’s a massive help , I started with a cheap mig to work on my old cars then finally saved for a tig setup after many late night bar shifts ,I’m all self taught never went to a college sadly , but after years I’m now in the pharmacutical pipe industry and love it now coded for 6g in few different procedures hoping to keep learning and earning thanks to you and the great community we have , good luck to everyone , God bless from the UK to the world 🙌🇬🇧🇬🇧

  25. HELLO ALL!

The reason or backstory why I got into welding is because I was raised by a welder, my dad has been a welder for over 35 years and I just followed in his footsteps. He didn’t have any boys so I was it to carry on the family tradition. My grandfather was a CWI and a welder also so I’m third generation. I have been welding for about 12 years now. I have worked out in the field for a number of years, I worked in a shop and built packaging equipment, I also worked for a dairy company and we did dairy parlor builds and repairs, I also dabbled in some structural and construction welding before I landed in my current position. I am currently an assistant welding teacher at a high school career and tech center, I get to share, teach and mold the next generation of welders thus far it has been very very rewarding watching my students learning a trade. I am also launching a new welding art class at a local community college in the next few months. I have a tiny shop that I do welded art in and sell online and at craft shows. I’m hoping to do some live demonstration shows in the future! I eat, sleep, breath and live welding and love sharing it with others I’m excited to see where it will take me in the years ahead. Cheers to everyone that’s my story 👩🏼‍🏭

  26. The very first time I struck an arc I was 13 using my dads old Lincoln I had to idea what I was doing blew the biggest hole thru that scrap I had lol. I got into high school and took welding 1 and fell in love I finished welding 4 my senior year, already working a high school at a water park here in town and actually got a ton of experience welding with the welder Jessie really great guy worked for his for 3 seasons till present, got accepted for a summer internship 2019 for my school district and got even more experience! And that’s when I knew this is what I wanted to do 100% I went to my local machine shop Darbyshire and got hired on I haven’t been there for 7 months. Met a lot of great people that have been added to list of role models. Also I am excited to say that I started my 1st semester at a community collage for welding technology. Every excited to start them welding classes. I don’t really know what I plan to do when I get my certification but I know that I love it to weld. Matthew – Anthony NM

  27. What’s up Weld Professor! Andrew here from Boilermakers local 549, I have a electrical background but I’ve always wanted more, to know more, experience more, learn more and earn more so I signed up here at local 549 and got indentured last May 2019 and I love the trades brother, especially welding! I took to it like it was something I had forgotten and picked it like like a bike man. The greatest thing about welding for me is that every weld is one to learn from, to progress and refine, it’s always teaching you to make a better weld then your last! I hope to continue my welding career with your awesome giveaway if I’m lucky enough to be chosen, thanks for the opportunity to win these prizes!

  28. Hey brother, stoked you got the website up and running, congratulations!! My story, huh? Well, I started welding in high school, then continued on after school. I started doing it for fun, then for work, now because it’s my passion, and still for work, cuz we gotta eat, right? It’s not just a job though, it’s a lifestyle, and I love livin it. All the people I’ve come across have been SO supportive,And just great!!! Keep up the great work, and thank you for the opportunity at some kickass gear!!!

  29. I was kind of born in to welding, my dads side hustle was making beautiful pits and trailers all by himself. Ever since I was little I watched my dad weld, and being a young one I would always try and watch without a helmet and my dad would always tell me to look away but I just wanted to watch. I am now in college at TSTC in Waco going for my associates in structural welding and certification in pipe welding. One thing I have learned in the welding industry, is that it doesn’t matter what type of education you have, where you’re from, or who you are. All that matters is how much you know and how hard you work and that’s what I love!

  30. Sup world,

I’m Zack; 27 years young. Been addicted to this welding life for bout 7 years now. When I first started welding it was flux core for a solar company, doing nothing more then pipe extensions. I knew I loved this shit first time I dropped my hood over my face. I got that welding itch and knew this was my calling. I left the solar company bounced around from fab shop to fab shop learning everything I could, while getting them certs. After 5 years in a shop I needed to be free from a warehouse. Now I spend my days stick welding for a dock leveler company. My long term goal is to get out there on the pipeline doing big boy shit when I’m ready. That day will be coming soon I feel it. Till then imma keep turnin’ burnin’ & learnin’.

  34. Hey Wally really appreciate the opportunity to win this bad a$$ giveaway! I got into welding because of my father it’s what he grew up doing and I love it. It’s also really sick how you help out people a lot with all of the shit and Info you have cause I work on the pipeline currently and there’s a lot of dudes that are honestly just dicks about it and don’t want to teach people what they know or help someone out but most of the stuff I do with my welding are tips and tricks I see from your videos. Like you say I may not be the best but I sure as hell try my best, peace!

  35. I got into welding in highschool. They only taught smaw, never really talked much about mig, flux core or Tig welding at all. unfortunately it only lasted until I finished the only 2 metals classes the school had to offer. My dad had a self shielded flux core weld for a little while. He wasn’t the best at it so showing me how to use it wasn’t easy lol. Then I fell away from welding when I got a job in the slaughter house/ meat packing industry, worked on the production line for years trying to move to a maintenance position. Never could get a spot in there so I moved up position on the production line until I lost my job there. Young, dumb, made bad choices then and now have learned from them. Moved onto a maintenance job for our local fair grounds. We have a 3 man crew most of the year and since I’m the youngest most of the big work falls on me. From barn cleaning to electric work to plumbing, fixing barns, horse arena fence, cattle gates etc. Up until the last year they’ve called a local company to come out and weld the things we need done but not always possible. Nights, weekends, orduring events we have going on. So I stepped up an took on the welding at our fair grounds, all we had was an old Lincoln ac buzz box. Could do much with it limited cord length and short leads someone hacked down years before I started. So i bought my own welders to use at work so I could be mobile and we didn’t have to worry about getting someone to come out for repairs. I’m no where near as good as those guys but I try my damnedest to do my best. I try to get them to let me weld as much as possible at work, and I even try to stay after works over to burn up what ever scrap metal I can find laying around. The plus side is they have been letting me weld more at work. I’ve spent the last 4 days repair our manure spreader. Welded trailer Jack back on, welded up some links to the drive bars. Repairing rust hole and broken metal, loving every minute of it. I love seeing the puddle behind the hood, love the feeling you get when you knock the slag off to reveal a nice stack off dimes (or in my case a not bad sorta stack lol). I want to progress in welding become a rig welder. Have a rig lol not just a few cheap portable machines like I have now. Until then I’m just practicing away burning up all the rods I can get my hands on. Keep em burnin brother.

  36. Proffessor, i am very pleased to have been following your success as it has been growing.
I gratuated college as a robotics technician and realised that is a career with not as much profit as i had expected in the location i currently reside, and at the same time i started getting a higher interest in welding because of people like you and other professionals on the field. Thanks to your teachings and well thought explanation on procedures and mindset i quit my construction job as a water and sewer pipe layer and started practicing welding, knowing and making it my goal to become a pipewelder, i started cold calling places and showing up to welding companies, failed some tests and got denied the oportunity of others as i was not certified, i was lucky my dad has a rig (hobart champion elite) and practiced with that as well as a miller trailblazer 302 from a generous guy that i met through a friend, within a couple weeks of practicing and watching your videos i learnt how to pass a few tests and was ready to go test out, but i ran out of money so i had to find a job and i got a job welding and running a robotic welder at a company that makes mining plants and conveyor systems all thanks to the determination and passion that you radiate through your videos, the couragement you give i felt and helped me even after failing. While i work at this company im gonna keep working on my certificates and rig up to then eventually move to the oil fields here in canada after my surgery, but weather i win this giveaway or not, i would like to tell you how grateful i am for all the secrets of the trade you share through your social media platforms, as the step son of a mining and construction company owner i know that sharing trade secrets is frowned upon the industry but yet you help so many people by doing that, and for that i take my hat off to you. Thank you kindly and keep doing what you’re doing, im sure your mom watches with pride from up above.

  37. Hey my names tucker coons I’m pretty new to this game I’m 2 years into a position at a company that has an interesting storry behind it. Maybe not interesting to the rest of the world but me for sure. I work at the second largest landfill in the u.s repairing shipping containers. Its nasty work but this place raised me in a sense. My dad worked for the same company and same position as I do for 26 YEARS! And my grandpa worked there for a substantial amount of time himself. So I’m generation 3 in the shop. I watched them both struggle and strive to make it out there. So now it’s my turn to put the hours and do what we do best. I’ve so fortunate to have some veteran welders in the shop to give me advice. And no matter what they tell me , even if I’ve heard it all before I’m always grateful for it. Nobody is making them give up tricks to the trade to some kid in his 20s. They’ve told me before that they see I want to learn and they appreciate that alot. That’s my story. Maybe a little different field than what others are use to. But it’s my job and I always try to learn something from it even if its exactly what not to do next time lol

  38. Was in the army with cam kelly got out after 8 years active “accidentally” got a job being the mechanic for a natural gas contractor in rock hill sc Bought a welder about 8 months ago I’ve watched a lot of your videos and have thought myself how to weld pipe working with 7018 uphill then going to take the test. Thanks for all the advice on your videos by the way!!! This is for the giveaway on Instagram also sent you a friend request a while back and commented on your Facebook

  39. Yes sir, first I want to say thanks for all you do, your advice is very helpful and appreciated. I started welding in high school and new this is what I wanted to do. Now I’ve got about 15 years in the field all single hand all uphill. Tig , stick. I have never worked on the line but, I am very interested in making the switch, I have put a rig together about 3 months now and have been working on my downhill, not yet there but god willing I’ll get there . Thanks again, Brandon

  40. Big reason I got into welding was my pops, he always welder when I was younger, always was around it, I had the chance to work in a structural shop hanging beams and columns, running Bdeck, out where I live, started as a helper and learned the trade and had the opportunity to learn to weld. I excelled and became certified. I learned a lot. At the moment I work for a wrought iron company, fabricating and welding gates and handrails, guardrails. I’m currently getting together a welding trailer I can pull behind my truck and do weld repair and custom work, I’ve never had a passion so great other than being a father. As far as work, hobbie, building things and making people go wow. Welding became an art to me and I thrive and strive to make each weld better than the last, my goal is to have my town talking about the work I do.

  41. Hey, I started welding my freshman year of high school in shop class in Ripley WV. Now im a junoir in high school and i am going to a tech school half of the day. This is my first year and ive passed my stick plate test, mig plate, 6G stick, tig root 7018 fill on plate. Im curently worked on 6G tig root test and im the forman of out welding class. This year im going to Skills USA for idavidual welding compation. Next year i plan on going to the KWI high school compotion.
While im in school im working at a used tractor dealer. (Best Deal Equipment). Here i work on just about everything and make minor welding repairs and some fabercation.
This is my story i hope it is what you were looking for. I just love to weld and love your videos.

  42. First things first, I have to thank you for the videos and pictures you post, whether it’s on Instagram or YouTube. The time you take out of your day, away from your family, must be hard, but you’ve definitely inspired me to try my hardest to be a better welder.

I first got into welding back in late 2008 when I was fitting for a rig welder who was contracted by the company I worked for back then. He was making damn good money but it wasn’t even about that. I was a 21 year old kid who still really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. He let me tack a few things up, and once I got my first taste of under the hood, I knew I wanted to be a welder. Unfortunately 2008 was also a pretty bad year as well… as I said, I was a 21 year old kid who still made terrible choices, and one of those choices put me in prison for over 5 years. Once I got out in the beginning of 2014, I got back to work for the same company and immediately started messing around with MIG welding. Pipe welding was my ultimate goal but I knew I had to learn all the basics before trying to jump right in the deep end. I signed up for school and soon got my 3G and 4G for stick welding. I started practicing pipe welding on my spare time and not long after, took the 6G test and passed. Things were going great from there on out, but in January 2019 I was laid off with about 7 other employees. Sitting at home wasn’t paying the bills so I joined a new company who promised the world but couldn’t deliver. After a stressful and broke 2019, I was fortunate enough to join a local pipe fitters union and things are finally looking up for me and my family. I’m back welding on a regular basis, doing the work I love. I’m constantly watching your videos and looking at your welds to try and make mine half as good as yours. You’re an inspiration to never give up on your goals, and you’re one hell of a welder.

Thank you for being so interactive with your followers and I look forward to your next post!

    Kenny McNair
Ps – I’m sorry for writing a damn novel lol

  43. One day I got to use a torch to cut a truck apart and from then on I’ve been hooked. I went to FFA and skills usa competition’s. FFA I got 27 out of 172 and skills I got 1st in regionals and 6th in state. I’m currently building a truck to go pipeline but I want to be a helper first. I am also planning on taking your class or trying to be your helper!

  44. Well I’ve always loved working with my hands, whether it was working on my truck, or now my motorcycle, or building random things. So, I chose to pursue welding and am now in trade school at a local community college. I love it! I am stick certified in all positions 1-4g and 1-4f. I just finished my Mig and Flux core all position fillet weld tests today and got a 95. I tell you what, flux core gets hot😂! Once I finish my groove weld test for Mig and Flux I’ll be on to Tig.

  45. Well I’m a Army Vet, husband of 20+ Years and a father of 2 grown sons. I’ve done many different jobs but Welding is my passion. I learned to welding with the help of my Grandfather. He taught me basic welding around the farm. After I got out of the Army I took my first welding job and it became the start of a FANTASTIC journey. I’ve learned alot of different skills over the years and different tricks of the Trade from the old timers I’ve worked with. Now I an one of the Old Timers and I love to share the knowledge and help up and comes when I can. Don’t get me wrong I still like to razz them and give them a hard time, but that’s how I learned. When I first found Instagram I discovered a welding community like I never imagined. Tons of Bad Ass welders posting up pics and sharing the Knowledge. It’s great to see people supporting the Trade and promo6the youth to get involved. I’m a firm believer in Trade Schools over College and I’m hopeful that any of the knowledge I have shared has help someone. Your page is a positive reminder that Welding is one of the Best Trades. Keep up the good work and always remember the grind never stops.

  46. Hey Wally! I guess my career started when I joined the Navy. I worked with the piping and filters and pumps for JP-5 jet fuel on the aircraft carriers. I always had an interest in piping but didn’t have many options where I moved to continue working on it after I got out of the Navy. When I was out I joined a production shop doing just about anything they needed me to do until I saw the guys in the back of the shop always welding and I immediately got interested. I told them I’d learned everything else on that side of the shop and I was ready to move on to the welding side and learn to weld. They put me over there and I picked it up instantly. Man it felt so good when I lifted my hood and saw a nice consistent weld. It was all mig welding so it wasn’t too hard to pick up. As I got better my standards got higher for pay and I don’t settle. So I bounced around to a few more shops until a local pipefitter kind of discovered me and told me about a 5 year apprenticeship I could join to be a journeyman pipefitter/welder. I took a walk thru of the training facility and saw the twenty something weld booths they had that are available to us whenever and I jumped on board immediately. Once I started the hustle started. I’d work my work days with the contractor and right after work I’d be running to the booths to weld for a few hours until they closed up 3-5 days a week. Did that for a little over a year and I got all of our required stick welding certs we have until we’re allowed to move on to tig. I even messaged you on instagram for tips and advice of getting over my nerves on test day. I’m thankful for your help! And now I’m a second year apprentice, working on my tig certs, only one in my class with certs, and I love every bit of welding pipe. There ain’t nothing that gets me more amped up in the mornings than to get up and go to work and weld. It’s very rare a 2nd year gets to weld on the job so I feel so blessed! Man I love pipe so much I even love to do layout and math and takeoffs and what not! So yeah. This is my 3rd or 4th year since I first started welding and I love every day man. Got a wife and 2 daughters so needless to say my learning not done in the welding world. I won’t be done till I’m at the top! Thanks for reading Wally!

  47. My story is just starting, as well as my journey in my welding career i just started to attend a small combo pipe welding school here in arkansas. I see a future in welding. I went from working on a farm here in my hometown to moving off, starting bigger and better things to further my education and skills in doing something i love. Anytime somebody around this farm town would need something stitched up, they would call me, not because of how good i was or how slick or any of that, they would have me do it because they saw the passion i had for this. Honestly youre a very inspirational person and i believe that we share the same passion to burn! But like i said earlier, my story is only beginning, so i would love the chance to be in your giveaway since that i am just starting out with big dreams!

  48. I am a woman in the process of becoming a welder. I have fell in love with welding, and I’m ready to kick my career off and make some money on the road. I’m 22, and I’m from Arkansas. I have been taking classes through a community college in my hometown, but I am about to head to a trade school in Missouri (MWI) to get school over with sooner. Everything you are giving away would really help me kick-start my career with some very awesome gear.

The reason I got into welding is because I was basically lost on what I wanted to do. I went to a four-year university out of high-school with an athletic scholarship to play basketball. I was taking Kinesiology classes in order to become a physical therapist, athletic trainer, or something involving sports medicine. I ended up having a fourth surgery on my knee due to injuries from playing and finally gave it up (doctor’s advice). So, I came home to figure out what I wanted to do in life. I knew deep down I really didn’t want to work inside because all I have ever done is work outside, and that is where I want to be. I heard about the welding program starting up at our community college and decided to give it a shot. It was very nerve-wracking to take the first step to just sign up, but once I did, it was probably the best decision I’ve made thus far. I fell in love with welding. I love that there are always challenges, which means there is always room for improvement. One day, I hope to be able to weld so well that other welders aim to make their welds look as good as mine. Plus, being better than all the guys would be cool, too.

Let’s hit the road and make some money!

    Sorry for all the rambling!

  49. Yooo mannn big fam of your work! You’ve helped me out a lot on your videos and I appreciate it. Thanks for being so humble and showing us your work. Im currently down here in houston and going to Arclabs/ welding school.
If i win all of this i promise its gonna go to good use.
Thanks for everything man!! Stay upp !
    And stay burning.

  50. I currently got into welding 2018 my uncles are welders and they just got me into that path to become a welder and mannn its the best thing ever its so crazy how much work you can do with your hands its all art at the end of the day.
Welding is my passion and i can say that proudly.

  51. First off, you’re a great inspiration and idol to tons of people who wanna weld and do pipeline like you. But I started off welding my junior year of highschool, loved it right off the back, every chance I had to weld in class, always took the opportunity to get better and get where I wanted to be, also did it my senior year & it went successful. I was then hoping to get into a trade school or get straight to work and luckily had a chance to get into Tulsa Welding School, which I’m attending right now and will be graduating this month on the 14th. I’ve learned tons and gotten a whole lot better. Learned many tricks and gotten great advice from all instructors on how the weld industry works and what we should expect going in. My dream has always been to be a pipe-liner, which takes time and patience, but it’s all possible. Winning your gear would mean a whole lot and help me to start with and I’d very appreciative of it.
That’s how it all started with me and I plan to continue this great career thanks to you and all your helping videos!

  52. So my long story short is I was a bad kid when I was younger. Got in a lot of trouble and did a lot of dumb stuff. I had a bad childhood and let that be my excuse to fall into the same patterns as the people around me in my life. I decided to take a buddy up on his offer for me to join him in a workout with the local Marine Corps recruiter and the rest is history. I got my life together and thankfully made a huge change. I got out of the Marine Corps in 2018 and jumped straight into the welding program at my local junior college. Again, took a buddy up on his recommendation to give it a shot. I realized it just came natural to me and I fell in love with it. I graduated this past December on the presidents list and was the top of my class. I watched your videos every single day even re watching tons of them. I watched little things like how you moved your body in certain positions to give you a more stable and comfortable position to weld in. I learned a lot from your videos and it made me a way better pipe welder and set me apart from the rest. I often repeat a line you say a lot “I just love to weld” it’s very true for me as well. I just love to weld and would love to rock your gear. I appreciate the giveaway opportunity and all the knowledge you put out for people!

  53. I recently just graduated high school a few months ago. I used to help my papaw work on tractors and trucks and he’d let me put a hood on while he was welding on farming implements. I started welding in the 9th grade after realizing the automotive class wasn’t for me. First day in the welding booth and I had no clue what I was doing. The older kids said I just needed to give up and I came close several times. But I knew I had to get better. I knew I wasn’t gonna work in a sawmill for life like the rest of my family. So I started watching the weld professor’s videos on YouTube along with a few others and tried something new every time I got to the shop at school and I could see progression and so could my instructor. He started sending me off to competitions which I loved. I placed good in some and didn’t in others. My senior year I was able to travel to Kentucky for the KWI high school competition and when we got to the school we had to sit under this big white tent with round tables. Me and my daddy got there a little early so we wouldn’t miss anything and sat on the front row beside the stage. That’s when Wally sat down at the same table and I was flipping out because my role model was sitting right in front of me. I could barely speak. Before it was all over with I ended up getting my Tillman gloves signed and a picture with him and some words of inspiration I still keep with me today. I was so nervous and shaking due to the competition and Wally just kept saying how God was with me and how I got no reason to be nervous. I’m sure I’ll remember that as an old man. Not trying to sound cheesy but because of that I have more of a drive or motivation and I can feel myself growing closer to my dream everyday. So if nothing else I just wanna say thank you Wally for all the tips and words of encouragement from me and my whole family and we wish many blessings to yours. I couldn’t have done it without you.

  54. I only started welding about a year ago l. I was going into my senior year of high school and there was no way I was gunna throw away 60,000 grand to go to college. So I signed up for welding class. The first day I started on oxy-acetylene and that shit was tuff. But I really fell in love with stick welding. I’m trying to get into my local pipe fitters Union but being 18 with little to know experience doesn’t help. Be that as it may I won’t stop me from burnin on some pipe!

  55. I wanted to be like my dad and follow in his footsteps. Couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else for the rest of my life.

  56. My father has been a pipeline welder for 30+ years. He taught me everything I know about. Much like it being his lifelong career, it will be mine as well. Even though he is much better than me, I cant wait for the day that he finally has to respect my work 😂. I’m constantly working/practicing to pass tests and cash checks. Thanks for the opportunity of the giveaway, it’s nice to see theres still good people in the world.

  57. Hey Wally how are you and God bless you. So How and what got me into welding? So I am a believer too okay So back in dec.2015 I was working at a warehouse job(Ashley Furiture) on my way to work I was listening to my favorite radio station (KSGN 89.7 riverside,Ca) I was just listening to the radio and speaking to Jesus to bless me and direct me with a better job and to help me and my daughter not struggle so as I came to a stop light to turn left I had looked to my right hand side an saw a vocational training school for welding an said to my self if this is what Jesus wants me to do so I’ll do it then. I still went to work that morning and had in thought what was shown to me was getting to me so I decided to take action and just quit to start a new beginning in life, I have just started school the month after and met classmates all tho I spoke to one and told me he is a supervisor at a metal material company an gave me a list of other companies they ship too I luckily had called one and started working at my first welding job in Jan.2016 an as of now. I am so thankful to share this story of my welding career with you and everyone else. I couldn’t of done it with faith and patience and most of all leaving to up to God.

    1. So it all started when I was 13 I started working in pipeline and I became a welder helper there is no other feeling than just watching the puddle follow you everything around just feels like air when I have my good on and that’s why I got into welding

  58. Hey man,
I’ve been watching your videos since day one. First starting off welding with my grandfather who has since passed when I was just 10. Being a part of a family farm there is always welding to be done. Getting into high school I took a instant interest in welding. Starting out I took ever opportunity to better myself, night classes at the local collage, extra time in shop, once I reached grade 10 I had become well known in the shop for someone who had descent hands. This gave me the opportunity to compete in my first welding competition. Lots of work and many rods burnt I was privileged to get 1st place. The following year I improved my welding skills and was asked to compete in the provincial level competition along with 30 other students around Ontario. Finishing 10 in Ontario sparked my interest in to making to pursue welding as a profession. After working in the trade for 2 years I was offered a spot in the most well known welding and fabrication program in the province. On my first day I was asked why I was here and I answered because I love to weld. After spending 6 months perfecting my welding skills I was asked to represent my collage at the skills Ontario competition. After spending over 250 hours in the shop in just 5 weeks I was honoured to place 2nd in Ontario behind my teammate by just 1/2 a mark. I plan on representing my collage again this year at skills Ontario with a goal of representing Ontario in the national competition. After competing my apprenticeship I plan on opening my own shop to give students and apprentice’s the opportunity to come and learn the trade. Thanks you wally for all you have done for me and my future!
    Cheers

  59. Im 19, and almost done with my associates in Welding and Fabrication technology. I started welding in class when I was 17. Before the class, I had no clue what welding was, now its my dream to be a pipeliner.

  60. Hey guys. Heres my story

I had a pretty rough life to begin with and into my early 20s. Nothing compared to some, but some pretty hard times for a guy growing up. Lost a lot that most take for granted. Im talking about my family. Moved around a lot too. Never settled anywhere.. Ended up at 18 totally uninspired, certainly depressed, no direction whatsoever in my life. I was sent away to college at 18 with no clue about what I wanted or where i was going or even who i was or wanted to be. I stuck with university for 4 years, dropped put twice, alternated between a 4.0 gpa and a ‘did not finish’ mark. Something was obviously not right. Opportunity near me was very low and most of my friends had been to rehab or later ended up dead. Grateful to myself for staying away from that for the most part. My girlfriend at the time helped ke realize it just wasnt good for me, being in this place mentally or physically speaking. God bless her selflessness.

So in the depths of mental anguish at my life and my prospects, I removed myself from the hellhole that is southern New Jersey and made a bold journey to Canada to live. I packed everything i could fit into my car and drove for 24 hours straight from new jersey the first day, on pure adrenaline. Day 2 i was flying through Montana. Day 3 crossed the border to BC with 1 tank of fuel left in my bank account. I met my mother there and i lived with her for a few months before striking again on my own. Immediately I got to work with a new job and a new life, making triple my previous wage with a fresh perspective on everything. However this wasnt enough for me and i knew i could do better. Eventually I’d have to leave my comfort zone once more to get to the next stage.

After a couple years saving and planning I ended up in welding school, inspired by a friend who i met along the way who was a veteran of the steel world. This was also a calculated decision, seeing as the human race is utterly dependant on steel so i figured Id always have a job with steel. Just look at all the steel around. Someone fabbed and welded it. And they got paid for that time, skill and effort. Why not me?

I finished welding achool and found a job immediately. In fact I was bunking off school early the last month of school to go weld for a local contractor as i had finished everything in the course, 6 weeks early. I wanted back on the money train after 9 months of burning my savings too. I later ended up in a fab shop for about a year where i learned a ton about fabrication and welding. I got 3 raises without asking in 9 months. That isnt to toot my horn here, its to say the money is there for those who want it and are prepared to earn it. Life was decent but the work reptitive and the company politics irked me greatly. I became disillusioned at this point.

After some disagreements with that company, namely me not wanting to work nights and them wanting me to, I left and went to work for a good friend who i had been moonlighting for a few days a week the last couple of months. 40 hrs a week is part time guys and you’ll never make it for real with just 40. The new job was and still is structural steel, and another 9 months down the line i find myself in the best situation financially and mentally ive ever had in my entire life and i owe it mainly welding. I’m working 6 days a week, a key employee here with a great small company on the rise. Im in it for the long haul and to see what this thing becomes. I am always learning, always trying to improve quality and speed and learn new trades involved with steel- ironworking as of late as we are in the middle of erecting. I picked up a metric ton of tips for field welding from Wally and i love the attitude and try to adopt it myself. You gotta be gung ho and you gotta tell yourself everytime you strike up that you love welding. Never surrender.

To all those lost or lazy, what the hell are you waiting for? Are you saving yourself for something? Cus you’ve only got one shot here so make it your best one. Continually update yourself. I started this journey at 22 with all my possessions packed into a beat up car, $56.64 to my name and my back against the wall. You can do it too. 5 years later I’m welding nearly every day stacking it up on the steel and in the bank. Give yourself no other choice but success.

  61. Hello Wally I first got into welding I’m the seventh grade when I found out it was a legit trade. It seemed cool to learn and I wanted to master the art of it, plus I learned about the pay and different work you can do with this career. So I started high school welding classes my 10th grade year and took them the rest of the way through school. It was a great learning experience but I wasn’t done learning. I signed up for welding classes at my community college to further my education in welding and man did it help. My skill set grew and I learned a lot more than I ever thought I could have learned. But the learning isn’t done yet I still have a lot to take in from this career because one thing I learned from watching you is the learning never stops. You have been a awsome mentor to watch on you tube I took in a lot from your videos and if I was tho win the contest I would be a true blessing to me at getting started to building my rig so thanks Wally and have a blessed day.

  62. Hello Wally and Others. My story is rather simple, lacks the trials and tribulations that most face. I picked up this hobby (all it is at this point) because I did a terrible job welding at work. We had to build a raised concrete pad for our sieve shaker. Not wanting to drill through the new slab and into the floor for anchoring, I was asked to weld a steel frame to be encased in the new pad. Sure a buddy taught me to mig, one day 10 years ago. Well this wasn’t mig, flux, and I had 10 year’s worth of life happen to remember a drink day. Anyways I cowboyed up and did my best. It was good enough to work. I had hit my six month sober mark around that time. In my constant improvements to myself, I said the new me wouldn’t take the easy route anymore. I challenged myself. Saved up a few bucks, bought a cheap (expensive to me) DC stick welder. No one who knows how to weld near me will offer any advice for a few bucks. So I wake up and fall asleep watching your channel and others to learn about this trade. Thank you sir. I probably will never be out on the pipeline, in a shop fabbing something gnarly, or whatever. As long as I understand something exciting then I’m happy. Also side gig work wouldn’t be bad, but no where close to that. Thanks a million for the free educational content you have created.

  63. Hello my name is Grayson Terry from Georgia, I started working on the pipeline five days after I graduated high school at 18 years old. This job had always been my dream job because of the stories and pictures my dad had shown me after being In the business since he was 16, I wanted to be like him and many family members before. I started out as a labor hand and eventually gained interest in welding. The first time I struck an arc I was totally set on being a welder. There is just something about building things with your own hands, bringing it from drawings and prints to a finished product. I’ve moved on to be a helper and have been at it for a while now. Still practicing every day to sharpen my skills and technique to be the best I can! I could give anyone some advice it would be to give all glory to God and always work hard it will pay off!

  64. Hey Wally! I started welding when I was in 10th grade in high school and instantly fell in love with it. I started watching you videos to try learn as much as I could outside of school as I didnt have my own machine. Now I’m attending the Kentucky Welding Institute and having an amazing time here. Hopefully one day I’ll see ya on a job. Keep up the good work professor!

  65. My uncle was a pipeline welder from alanama also where i was born in mobile. My dad has always welded at his job. I always had a passion for it bit it never seemed to go my way or i didnt have the patiencence to listen and learn from dad big mistake. Basically i just had a complete breakdown. After a close call and a good friends it took about 4 weeks to get me to a dr to get help and start to get living life in a new healthy way. Im being treated for PTSD and getting better everyday day. So to the good stuff i weld everyday practice practice practice. Ive found my passion and its melting two pieces of metal together. 66. Hello I am Steven Calvanese I am a welding student at IL Welding School right now. I got into welding after I got kicked out of Iowa State University (looking back there where a ton of little hints that I should’ve left earlier like not sharing the excitment for class as the other students and that I liked the chemistry class more than the classes in my major). Then I went to my local community college and I was deciding between automotive or was because the automotive classes where full. But ever since I took that class I have loved to weld and to learn to weld and I can’t wait to become a proper pipeliner welder.

  67. I used to work at a metal refinishing / fabrication shop, my dad would show me how they would make the components for the elevators and weld them together. I asked if I could use the MiG gun and from there it’s all history. I love welding and it’s community just like you Walter you’re always looking out for other people and sharing your knowledge. I am grateful to at least share this moment with everyone. I currently just finished welding school and pipifitting as well. It’s been a rough start looking for a job to break out in this industry but your videos always inspire me to never change the path to become what I’ve always been wanting to be an that’s a welder ! Thanks again Walter for everything you’ve done for everyone. Stay safe brother and god bless ! 🙏

  68. First off let me start by saying I am a single mom of five beautiful children ranging from 15-4 four boys and a daughter she is in the middle. I had three years of being very I’ll with a brain tumor. I got better wasn’t sure how was going to raise my children alone still. Was waiting tables. One day my daughter who was being bullied at school came to me and said she didn’t want to go back that it wasn’t fair she had to go to school when kids were so mean to her and I helped her to understand kids act that way when they are jealous or think that they have there own insecurities. She came to me and said well mom I’ll make u a deal if you go to school them I will too. So she made me promise and that very day I took her to the college my mom graduated from. I’ve always liked trades like building and working on cars. They had just started there welding program and had one class left so her and I sat signed me up got the last spot in the class and 2 years later I graduated top of class Dean’s list the whole time also hired to teach at ivy tech by my teacher. She needed someone to help her see that she could do anything and get thru anything and in turn she made me find my place along the way I have never had a job I felt made me whole and gave me a purpose. I can’t thank her or good enough for letting me learn and grow and I will continue to grow and learn as much as possible and can’t wait to teach all my babies they can do anything they set their hearts and minds too… I am blessed that’s how I ended up being a welder and fabricator. Sometimes it’s our kids that teach us and I am beyond blessed. Thanks for listening to my story of how I got into the best place and career of my life btw Alexa is now 8 and loves helping me find scrap metal to build her things. I may have a future welder or 5.

  69. i got into welding in high school and since then on I’ve wanted to be in the pipeline, not only for the money but also for the family one creates there, thru getting to know one another and the pipeline prayer. I will be a first generation pipeliner in my family and watching your videos inspire me to not give up on my dream.

  70. I got into welding in high school because an ex boyfriend of mine told me I couldn’t take the class. 9 years later im in a union, it has never been easy for me but I love the challenges im faced with everyday. I’ve worked my ass off to get where I am now. Journeyman welder working in refineries. I’ve been at the bottom of the food chain one year to a foreman the next. I love to break the stereo types and show my brothers I can do more then just make a good weld. Welding is my safe haven, it helps me reconnect working with my hands. Being able to come home after a crazy active day makes me feel so accomplished. The checks aren’t bad either 😏

  71. I retired from the United States Marine Corps after almost 25 yrs. I’ve always wanted to learn to weld not only as a career but for the artistic applications as well. I’d never touched a torch of any kind until the first day of taking a welding course at my local community college. The instructors were patient and willing to demonstrate any technical aspect along with mentoring at every step. It’s been nothing but awesome and I have truly found a new passion I believe will last a life time.

  72. Im a 17 year old who was fascinated by welding when I went on a tour to Eastern Westmoreland Career Technical School in 6th grade and last year I started going to that tech school and I love welding I’ve never welded in my life till last school year and I’ve figured out im actually decent for never doing it in my life but im hopeing to make a career out of it

  73. Got into welding when I had this scooter I was 16-17 yrs old and wanted to stretch that shit out be different stand out haha I Did it and it actually worked, after that I got into cars and trucks, I started welding all types of exhausts and frame parts, I’d do it for fun for work for anything doesn’t matter if I’m getting paid or not, now I do it at my job not 8-10 hrs a day but when we do I’m the first to jump and say sure I’ll weld that, a lot of structural welding, thank you professor for showing your journey and sharing your skills with everyone

  77. When I was about 8 years old I went outside with a big leather jacket to try to weld with my dad. His response was “go inside ,girls shouldn’t be welding”
So , when I started my freshmen year in high school I enrolled in basic welding class. I stuck with the class for 4 years and I fell in love with the challenges that comes with welding a single bead. At 18 I hit a brick wall in life … My grandma passed away right before my graduation. The talk we had before she passed away she said “I don’t care what you do , as long as you go to College after you graduate high school”

So with $200 to my name , me and my girlfriend packed our clothes and headed to Denver. We arrived and had NOTHING. We drove past “Lincoln College of Technology” and I stopped and the conversation with my grandma came into my head and the next thing you know I took a placement test to get into the Tech college. Immediately I got accepted into the school. I was thrilled because this was something new and it was scary at the same time. While I was going to school I worked at Panera Bread. Just that job alone made me want to succeed with welding. I kept consistent throughout the 9 months of welding school. On my last day of school in July 2015, I started to think about where I should go take a welding test. So I googled “welding shops near me” and boom ! A place 1 mile from school showed up. I called and that same day I went in and passed the test! My first ever weld test and interview was the beginning of something God made possible. Ever since then I have traveled and worked in 3 states! Arizona, Utah & Colorado. I have met some real smart and hardworking people. The sacrifices I have made along the way made me realize that NOTHING could get into the way of pursuing what you truly want in life other then yourself. So , if anyone is reading this …Continue to pursue your Goals , Dreams and Ambitions knowing that you are going to succeed and grow with Time.
